Gary Steen

My name is Gary Steen. I am the president/CEO of GSSC Enterprises, Inc. I started my career at Chicago Bridge and Iron, Necular in 1977. I served my apprenticeship with CBIN. After the facility shut down in 1982, I went to work for Taylor Force Company in Memphis. I worked with Taylor Forge through 1982 and then received a lay off.

In 1983, I went to work with Gould Battery Company in maintenance. I worked with Gould Battery until February 1984. Then, I went to work in Design Engineering at Schering Plough Company in Memphis. I worked in the machine shop for 10 years.

In 1994, I received a promotion to engineering, where I designed tooling and ideas for packaging lines and worked my designs through the machine shop, to installation in production. In 1997, Schering Plough divested its packaging business in Memphis. Yet another lay off.

I was 39-years-old and ready to dredge my own path. Thus, I started GSSC Enterprises, Inc. in 1997. We purchased property at 426 N. Dunlap and rapidly outgrew the facility. In 2006, we purchased the property at 3013 Thomas St. were we now operate GSSC Enterprises, Inc.

We have approximately 25,000 sq. ft. and four acres for future expansion.
